1937

Jean Prouvost, creator of Paris Soir, launched in 1937 Marie Claire, a women’s weekly that became an instant hit.

 

After the war hiatus, the magazine was relaunched in 1954 as a monthly.

 

 


1967

Launching of La Maison de Marie Claire, which became Marie Claire Maison in 1990.

1973

Launch of Cosmopolitan.

1976 - Jean Prouvost sold his Group to Hachette. Evelyne Prouvost acquired the women's titles of the Group through an association with the L’Oreal Group in 1977.

The Group acquired Cuisine et Vins de France, and relaunched the magazine in 1984.

2001



Change of shareholders. L'Oréal and Donatienne de Montmort withdraw their participation in the group. With her sister Marie-Laure, Evelyne Prouvost took over a 58% majority in the H.E.P. holding that controls 100% of the Marie Claire Group. Hachette Filipacchi Médias joined the group with 42% of the capital. The two press groups then united forces and expertise and develop their star magazines’ worldwide presence.

Launch of La Revue du Vin de France in China.

Marie Claire strengthened its fashion identity by launching Marie Claire Fashion Shows, a half-yearly magazine dedicated to trends and runway shows.

Marie Claire Australia awarded once again. Marie Claire Australia just won 2 prestigious awards during the “Publishers Australia Excellence Awards” ceremony : Best consumer magazine award and the most coveted one: the Excellence Award (best magazine in all categories).

 


Marie Claire Fashion Show in Romania and Korea. After its successful launch in France, Marie Claire Fashion Shows continues its international development with new launches in Romania and Korea. Marie Claire Fashion Shows Korea is sold with a DVD of the Spring / Summer 2012 runways. Marie Claire Fashion Shows will come out twice a year in these two countries, in December and March.
Launch of Marie Claire Runway in the United Kingdom. On February 2012, Marie Claire UK's turned to launch a magazine that is dedicated 100% to fashion: "Marie Claire Runway". Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior and Gucci all agreed to participate in this biannual venture. Marie Claire Runway analyses all the latest fashion trends, with catwalks images and interviews with the most prestigious fashion designers. Print run: 25,000 copies.
Marie Claire's involvement with Sidaction. For the past ten years, Marie Claire France has participated in the Sidaction Fashion Dinner. The gathered funds are used in the fight against AIDS. On January 26th, Marie Claire gathered around it's table prestigious guests who gave their support in helping this important cause.
Exceptional feature in Marie Claire France dated March 2012. If I had been a man, would I have been treated like this? For the first time ever, influential and powerful women have agreed to transform themselves into men. Why? To show that sexism is still something all women have to endure and fight against, whatever their profession and status.

Marie Claire launches a new sister magazine in Japan

Keeping its expansion going in Asia where Marie Claire already exists in 9 countries, the Marie Claire Group announces the launch of a new edition derivativeof Marie Claire : Marie Claire Style Japan.
